The 20t can stay within the weight limit in a 40’ container; however, its size almost never allows it to be loaded in one piece. In cases where we can’t use the RoRo service, we either ship it in a 40’ high-cube/flat rack with the counterweight and the boom removed and packed in crat, and ship in two parts or by a conventional 40’ flat deck as an exception, considering the higher prices.
The basic documents are Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice(HS code 8429), Packing List, Certificate of origin and, possibly, emissions certificate/compliance documents specific to the receiving destination-some markets require EPA Tier 4 Final engine certifications.
