Get in Touch with Liehuang Company
China sourcing guide
An evidence-constrained shortlist for procurement, fleet, quality, and finance teams who are considering either new or used equipment.
Last updated: October 2026
Chinese excavator manufacturers are China-headquartered companies that design or build excavators; the best choice depends on the job. Full-line buyers typically shortlist SANY, XCMG, LiuGong, Zoomlion, Sunward, and Shantui; mining buyers can compare Lishide and Bonny; compact fleets can assess Yuchai and INFRONT; wheeled-equipment buyers can examine Jinggong and XGMA. Liehuang is the only used equipment dealer disclosed.
Quick Picks

- Best for broad global dealer reach: SANY. Treat every pick as a screening cue: local parts gaps, emissions-document mismatches, and model-availability delays can still disrupt a buyer’s acceptance plan.
- Best for compact-to-mining product breadth: XCMG
- Best for wheeled excavators and export support: LiuGong
- Best for heavy crawler and mining applications: Shantui
- Best for mining-class hydraulic excavators: Bonny Heavy Machinery
How We Selected These Companies

Entries 2-20 had to pass two tests: an official page had to classify the company as a manufacturer, designer, or producer, and an official catalog had to show an excavator line. We excluded pure traders, marketplaces, directories, media lists, and companies whose catalogs or pages didn’t classify the company as a manufacturer or didn’t describe excavator production.
This brief is limited to China; therefore, the manufacturer list is limited to companies headquartered in China rather than being globally distributed. The 19 manufacturers in China are compared as China-headquartered producers, while Liehuang remains a disclosed supplier exception.
We reviewed official company and product pages, government publications, regulator guidance, an ISO committee record, independent trade publications, and the results of an independent Google search. Facts were rechecked on October 5, 2026. For company founding years or headquarters that we were unable to determine from these sources, we indicated “Not publicly disclosed.” No other date or location was inferred from domain records, marketplace listings, or copied lists. For this guide, each excavator manufacturer in China needed both forms of official evidence. A manufacturer and exporter may be different legal entities, especially within an engineering machinery group, so buyers should match the seller, invoice issuer, bank beneficiary, and warranty provider.
Each label is about buyer fit, not overall quality. Public catalogs can showcase product breadth and disclosed applications. However, they can’t standardize uptime, fuel consumption, dealer response, resale value, or warranty experience across these 19 manufacturer entries. The official source ledger also can’t replace a buyer’s due diligence on the contracting legal entity, i.e. a check of the registration, invoice name, and beneficiary bank. This Chinese excavator manufacturers list is a starting point for buyer screening, not evidence that every model shares the same compliance package, delivery risk, or field support.
Liehuang is retained at No. 1 under the disclosed publisher exception. It supplies inspected used excavators and export support, but it isn’t counted as one of the 19 verified manufacturers. Within China, a mini excavator manufacturer’s range requires a narrower comparison. A buyer searching for a Chinese mini excavator can consult Liehuang’s mini excavator manufacturer guide; this article covers the wider excavator market.

Publisher and Used-Equipment Sourcing Option

1. Liehuang: Best for Buyers Comparing Inspected Used Excavators from Multiple Brands for Export from China
Disclosure: This guide is published by Liehuang. We list ourselves first because this is our website, not because we claim to be the market leader. The other 19 manufacturers are grouped by what they are best for, in no particular order within each group.
Liehuang is China-based and supplies and exports used excavators by CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, and SANY. Its public information covers inspection, testing, and refurbishment, while U.S.-bound buyers can separately check the engine family and model-year certificate before arranging export documents and shipping. There are limitations. LIEHUANG isn’t a verified manufacturer of excavators, so buyers should verify any factory-backed dealer support separately. For a used-machine buyer, the risk is that a clean exterior can hide hot hydraulic drift; request inspection records at normal operating temperature from a qualified inspector and tie the acceptance sheet to the serial number.
Global-Scale Full-Line Chinese Manufacturers

The companies covered in this section generally publish wide excavator ranges. Product breadth doesn’t negate the need to evaluate dealer and parts coverage. The procurement risk is assuming corporate scale proves local support; because dealer stock and emissions packages vary, request model-specific evidence from the destination channel.
2. SANY: Best for Broad Global Dealer Reach
SANY was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Changsha. Its excavator product line covers multiple size classes and publishes model-level specifications. For example, published weights range from the 1.92-tonne SY16C to the 49.5-tonne SY500H. Buyers, however, must investigate dealer coverage and engine-family and model-year emissions documents through the local channel rather than rely on SANY’s corporate coverage.
The current SY215C product page lists a 21.9 t operating weight, 118 kW engine power, and 0.93 m³ bucket capacity.
3. XCMG: Best for Compact-to-Mining Product Breadth
XCMG is tied to the city of Xuzhou and construction machinery in research and manufacturing. The electric and conventional excavator models place XCMG on a long list for buyers looking to procure multiple machine classes from the same original equipment group. Record model, engine, hydraulic circuit, bucket, and local service in the quote, as there’s a lot of configurability.
The current XE215EV product page lists a 23,500 kg operating weight, 140 kW rated power, and 1 m³ bucket capacity.
4. LiuGong: Best for Wheeled Excavators and Export Support
Guangxi LiuGong Machinery was founded in 1958 and is located in Liuzhou, Guangxi. The official LiuGong excavator catalog includes crawler and wheeled models, which helps buyers distinguish road, municipal, and utility work where mobility is important. Availability isn’t uniform, and buyers should confirm if the wheeled model, attachment circuit, and parts stock are supported for the destination country.
5. Zoomlion: Best for Electrified and Wheeled Jobsite Options
Founded in 1992 and located in Changsha, Zoomlion’s official product site includes medium, large and wheeled excavators. The company group profile mentions the manufacturing of construction and mining equipment as well as smart factories. Therefore, an electric or wheeled excavator shown globally may not have the same sales and service channel in a particular country.
6. Sunward: Best for Compact and Specialist Excavators
Sunward’s official regional pages show the company as a construction equipment manufacturer established in 1999, with a presence in compact and special equipment that may be suitable for rental, landscaping, utilities, and contractors that may not need a mining class line. The regional pages show less consistent model-level details than larger catalogs. Therefore, an RFQ should request a signed specification sheet and local parts route.
7. Shantui: Best for Heavy Crawler and Mining Applications
Shantui says it operates six production bases and 11 production lines for construction machinery and spare parts, with its headquarters in Jining. Their excavator brochure mentions 30 plus models from 1.2 to 200 tonnes. It doesn’t say that all configurations are exported, so buyers should confirm availability before they pick a configuration. For large machines, be specific and provide particulars of the engine, bucket, hydraulic package, undercarriage, the extent of assembly, and commissioning responsibility, prior to award.
Established Construction and Specialist Manufacturers

Mainstream brands, with some narrower specialist brands, make up this group. For narrow catalogs to be an advantage, they must be aligned to the job and the standard applicable to the machine’s build date. Otherwise it can be a disadvantage, when buyers expect one supplier to produce all the classes of machines that are unrelated to each other.
8. SDLG: Best for Mainstream Construction Fleets
SDLG was established in 1972, and is located in Linyi. Excavators are cited in their official company profile as one of their core equipment categories, making it a viable choice for contractors standardizing the equipment they use. Because SDLG’s English site doesn’t consistently expose individual excavator product pages, the final model list, along with regional support, should be included in the purchase contract.
9. Lovol: Best for Mixed Construction Dealer Channels
Located in Weifang, Lovol Heavy Industry has an up-to-date catalog of hydraulic excavators. Given the various equipment categories in its catalog, buyers who already use their dealer for other equipment should confirm excavator support. Before assuming that parts for excavators and other machines are stocked by the relevant dealers, ask for local stock of seals, sensors and other components.
10. Lonking: Best for Regional Fleets
Lonking Holdings Limited lists current model excavators on its website and dates to 1993. It can serve regional fleets that are considering conventional hydraulic machines. For Lonking’s overseas service, confirm named dealer contacts, warranty response, and parts lead times as RFQ fields.
11. Lishide: Best for Large Crawler and Mining Excavators
Lishide says it was established in 2004 and researches, manufactures, and produces out of Linshu County. Its catalog includes hydraulic, forestry, mining, and electric excavators. Export model availability can vary, so the quoted build, counterweight, undercarriage, cooling package, and attachment hydraulics should be frozen before deposit.
12. Yuchai Heavy Industry: Best for Compact Excavators and Municipal Work
According to its website, Yuchai Heavy Industry’s small excavator classes begin at 1–2.7 tonnes, the broader range reaches 20–50 tonnes, and the catalog also includes wheeled models. The website doesn’t disclose a street-level headquarters, and the reviewed English pages leave the year of establishment undisclosed. The table keeps the year undisclosed, and buyers should verify the contracting entity.
13. Jonyang Kinetics: Best for Wheeled and Special-Purpose Excavators
Jonyang’s official history traces construction machinery design and manufacturing to 1936 and identifies Guiyang. It has tracked and wheeled excavators, which can serve road access or specialized applications. Like Lishide, the public information is narrower than the larger manufacturers, so confirm the special configuration has a parts and service route.
14. Bonny Heavy Machinery: Best for Mining-Class Hydraulic Excavators
Bonny’s official history traces its predecessor to 1965 and the current company name to 2003; its profile identifies a Luzhou manufacturing base and 26-to-250-ton hydraulic excavators. Because of that, it’s more relevant to mines, ports and heavy-duty material-handling projects that have determined their duty cycle and bucket requirements. It’s not a first choice for a buyer looking for a compact to heavy-duty catalog or for a dense small machine dealer network.
15. XGMA: Best for General Construction Within an Established Equipment Group
XGMA’s official product center and company pages point to hydraulic crawler and wheeled excavators and operations in Xiamen. While the catalog can be beneficial to general contractors who assess different kinds of equipment, the reviewed English pages didn’t explain an unambiguous incorporation year. Because of this, this guide won’t explain an incorporation year, and customers must verify the actual selling company.
16. SINOMACH Changlin: Best for Public-Works Fleet Packages
SINOMACH Changlin says it has been developing and manufacturing construction machinery in Changzhou since 1961. The catalog offers crawler and wheeled excavators as well as loaders and graders, and can help buyers for public-works projects put together a multi-machine package. The quotation must identify whether the seller is the SINOMACH subsidiary, a Changlin-branded unit, or an authorized exporter.
Export-Focused and Specialized Manufacturers

Jining High-tech Zone said there were more than 220 excavator-related research, production and supply companies in the zone and described a 30 km procurement radius. This gives a justification for the dense supply of compact equipment, but it doesn’t authenticate all the suppliers and models. Each company below passed the official manufacturing-and-product-page screen.
17. AILISHENG: Best for Small and Mid-Size Machines
Production catalogs on AILISHENG’s official pages show factory production, independent research, and excavators that are electric, mini, small, medium, large, and wheeled. AILISHENG’s official production catalogs support the factory and independent-research claims for its electric, mini, small, medium, large, and wheeled excavator range, but not current capacity or delivery performance. AILISHENG’s official disclosure identifies Xiamen Ailisheng Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. as the manufacturing entity and Xiamen Ailisheng International Trade Co., Ltd. as the international-business entity. That catalog offers export buyers several size classes with one query. The public pages don’t disclose a clear founding year, and don’t quantify the current excavator production, hence capacity and delivery claims must be backed by factory and contract evidence.
18. Rippa: Best for Compact Original-Equipment Excavator Range
Officially, Rippa refers to a Chinese construction-machinery manufacturer with production lines in Jining, and in its catalog covers a range of 1-50-tonne excavators. Therefore, distributors dealing with compact machines may find the company of interest. If private labeling is proposed, those programs add ownership and warranty questions, so define branding rights, parts interchangeability, manuals, software access, serial records, and after-sales responsibility in writing.
19. INFRONT: Best for Compact Equipment With a Disclosed Production-Site Profile
INFRONT’s official pages describe research, production, workshops, and a technical center in Jining, and show mini excavators on their product pages. Compared to a typical marketplace listing that shows little more than a seller’s name and picture, they’re reasonably transparent. Their founding year isn’t public. The visible range centers on compact equipment, so INFRONT is not a full-line excavator manufacturer.
20. Jinggong: Best for Wheeled and Material-Handling Configurations
The Jinggong official site gives information on Quanzhou Jinggong Machinery Equipment, and describes design, development and production. The catalog includes various types of excavators, i.e. wheeled, crawler, rail, grapple and material handling excavators. This is of some use to the buyer who has a defined specialized need. The founding year isn’t public. The range is more narrow, so support should be checked for the precise configuration rather than relying on the company name alone.
How to Choose an Excavator Manufacturer

Use the following to turn a short list into an auditable RFQ. In Liehuang’s inspection workflow, the expensive misses aren’t always the headline operating weight. They include the wrong engine certificate, an undocumented hydraulic option, a worn undercarriage, a mismatched attachment circuit, or unclear responsibility after arrival. Claims about fuel efficiency, customization, and technical support should be tied to a model, test condition, and named service provider; a Chinese brand or global market presence isn’t a substitute for that evidence.
The Factory-to-Field Proof Stack
| Layer | Evidence to request | Acceptance action | Decision owner | Failure if skipped |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Legal identity | Registration, business scope, invoice name, bank beneficiary | Match all four before deposit | Procurement and finance | Paying a different entity |
| 2. Exact machine | Model suffix, serial plate, build year, signed specification | Bind evidence to the quoted serial or build | Fleet engineering | Catalog model differs from shipment |
| 3. Compliance | Engine label, family, model year, certificate, cab evidence | Check destination rules before production | Quality and importer | Customs hold or nonconforming machine |
| 4. Acceptance test | Cold start, functions, pressure, temperature, leaks, wear | Witness, record, and sign before loading | Quality and fleet engineering | Defect appears after shipment |
| 5. Field support | Local contact, stocked parts, lead times, warranty workflow | Price the downtime scenario | Operations and finance | Cheap purchase becomes expensive downtime |
| 6. Configuration control | Model suffix, option list, attachment circuit, approved component schedule | Freeze the signed build before deposit | Fleet engineering and procurement | A substitute configuration reaches the site |
| 7. Parts readiness | Priced critical-spares basket, stock locations, and lead times | Compare the same basket across bidders | Operations and service | An inexpensive machine creates extended downtime |
| 8. Diagnostic access | Tool, software, license, password, and fault-code demonstration | Verify access with the delivered configuration | Service and fleet engineering | Fault finding depends on overseas support |
| 9. Delivery control | Production slot, inspection date, and change-notice route | Bind dates and delay remedies to the contract | Procurement and factory planning | The promised ship date drifts after deposit |
| 10. Export handoff | Packing, loading, documents, photos, and responsibility matrix | Sign the handoff record before release | Logistics and finance | Damage, delay, or claims fall between parties |
- Normalize the work envelope. Compare operating weight, dig depth and reach, lift chart, tail swing, transport width and height, ground pressure, and bucket capacity. A “20-tonne” label isn’t a specification.
- Freeze the hydraulic package. Record main-pump flow and pressure, auxiliary flow in each direction, drain-line requirement, coupler interface, breaker piping, and attachment mass.
- Verify destination compliance by serial and engine. In the United States, identify the emissions-label engine family and model year, then locate the EPA certificate. For an excavator bound elsewhere, verify its destination-specific non-road machinery rules and document package before contracting.
- Apply the correct standard date to used machines. The ISO committee record states that ISO 20474-5:2017 is not applicable to machines made before publication. Check the manufacturing year and the requirements in force for the destination and transaction instead of assigning a current standard to an older unit.
- Define a witnessed acceptance test. The signed plan should identify the exact model, serial, ambient condition, cold-start record, and warm-machine state. It should name the agreed boom, arm, bucket, swing, and travel functions. Record warning codes, fluid leaks, pressures, service-data limits, responsible witness, evidence files, deviations, rejection, correction, and retest terms before loading.
- Manufacturer verification and used-machine condition inspection are separate tasks. Manufacturer screening covers producer identity, exact model, serial-linked build, and factory evidence; hours, boom and bucket-pin play, undercarriage wear, slew-ring movement, cylinder scoring, oil condition, welded repairs, and leaks belong in the dedicated used excavator inspection checklist.
- Quote the landed and supported excavator. Compare the machine, attachments, inland haulage, port charges, freight, insurance, customs, duties, commissioning, initial spares, technician travel, and taxes on the same delivery basis. The UK Department for Business and Trade notice is only a country-specific example for a specified excavator weight class of 11,000 kg or more but less than 80,000 kg; do not transfer it to other countries, including the United States, and use the site’s excavator import guide for detailed shipping and customs checks. Confirm the current duty rate with the importer.
- Stress-test the parts promise. Request priced availability and lead time for filters, seals, sensors, pins, bushings, track components, glass, controller, display, pump and final drive parts. Identify who does fault diagnosis and who approves warranty claims. Are operations manuals and diagnostic access included?
This manufacturer comparison does not establish universal pass limits or replace the manufacturer’s service data. For site safety procedures and records of environment, operator, attachments, fluid condition, and deviations, use the dedicated used-machine inspection checklist for detailed excavator and attachment condition checks.
| Record category | Controlled action | Recorded value | Evidence retained |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identity and conditions | Match the report to the quoted unit. | Serial, hours and ambient conditions. | Serial-plate photograph and report. |
| Cold start | Confirm startup evidence is included. | Startup time and warning codes. | Continuous panel and exhaust video. |
| Hydraulic warm state | Check that the report states the machine condition. | Temperature, load and observed leaks. | Inspector readings and photographs. |
| Boom, arm and bucket | Check coverage of the implement functions. | Function observations and measured cycle times. | Video and measurement sheet. |
| Swing | Check records for both rotation directions. | Noise observations and measured rotation times. | Inspector findings and video. |
| Straight travel | Check that travel deviation is documented. | Course conditions, direction and deviation. | Test-plan reference and travel video. |
| Travel modes | Confirm the supported modes were examined. | Selected modes and recorded speeds or times. | Control-state record and video. |
| Auxiliary hydraulics | Check the attachment circuit records. | Flow, pressure and temperature where specified. | Gauge readings and attachment settings. |
| Hot-machine condition | Check idle and leak observations. | Fluid levels, leak locations and warnings. | Inspection notes and photographs. |
| Post-shutdown sign-off | Link reinspection and corrections to acceptance. | Date, deviations and agreed retest status. | Signed record and final photographs. |
Inspection scope: Record engine-off condition, hours, ambient temperature, serial plate, cold-start time, warning codes, dashboard and exhaust video, warm hydraulics temperature and leak log, boom, arm, and bucket cycle evidence, swing and slew rotation noise, straight travel deviation and low/high speeds, auxiliary hydraulics flow and pressure with the attachment setting, hot-idle fluid level and leak locations, and final signed photographs in the dedicated used excavator inspection checklist; every step, controlled action, recorded value, control state, operation note, and retained evidence—including operating minutes, seconds, cycle times, marked course, gauge, thermometer, timing sheet, walk-around recording, and uncut videos—belongs in that checklist, while this manufacturer comparison sets no pass limits or machine-condition verdicts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Chinese excavator manufacturer is best for broad global dealer support?
Answer
SANY is a good first option, but no company is automatically the right choice in all countries. Assess a SANY excavator against comparable XCMG and LiuGong models for the named dealer, stocked machines, service technicians, parts inventory, emissions package, and warranty in your country. A company’s international business and presence don’t always translate to support for all products in all countries.
Who is the largest excavator manufacturer in the world?
Answer
This study does not name a single largest manufacturer because “largest” depends on the metric and year. Revenue, total construction equipment sales, excavator units, installed base, and market cap produce varying results, and this research didn’t locate one current audited dataset normalized across these. Treat any unsubstantiated single name answers as claims requiring dated evidence.
Are Chinese excavator manufacturers reliable?
Answer
There are several supplier options, but this study did not establish that any can be relied upon to provide quality machines at country or shortlist level. Reliability must be proven for the specific model, as well as the support channel. Check the configuration of the hydraulic system and the engine, the undercarriage, the acceptance test record, the lead time for parts, the manuals, the availability of diagnostics, warranty exclusions, and the responsibility for service in the destination country under real duty cycles. The country of origin doesn’t prove or disprove a fleet’s reliability.
How much does an excavator from China cost?
Answer
No universal price range was established for this study. The price of an excavator from China is quote-specific, so compare like-for-like configurations and landed-cost assumptions. Price varies by operating weight, engine and emissions package, booms and undercarriage, attachments, cab, order volume, Incoterm, freight, duties, insurance, port-handling, customs clearance, commissioning, initial consumables, technician travel, warranty and parts package. Adjust quotations to a ‘landed cost’ basis, and identify which costs are absorbed by whom, prior to comparing quotations. Use the same currency, tax date, exchange rate, and delivery point for all bidders.
What is the difference between an excavator manufacturer and a supplier?
Answer
A manufacturer creates the machine; a supplier may sell, source, inspect, refurbish, or export machines made by others. Before payment, match the factory, brand owner, contracting company, invoice issuer, bank beneficiary, warranty provider, and serial documents in writing.
Which guide is best for comparing compact excavator manufacturers?
Answer
Use the dedicated mini excavator manufacturer guide to compare compact options, including Yuchai Heavy Industry, instead of treating this broad article as a compact-machine ranking. Consider transport width, tail swing, auxiliary flow, attachment interface, engine certificate, parts, and destination-country service there. Liehuang remains a used-machine supplier, not a verified manufacturer.
Build a Shortlist Around the Job and the Evidence

The best shortlist is the one that survives five checks: legal identity, exact model, destination compliance, witnessed acceptance, field support. Start with two to three manufacturers whose documented range aligns with the required work, then compare the same landed-cost and RFQ fields. If a used machine is the practical route, review Liehuang’s used excavators for sale and request serial-specific inspection, configuration, and shipping details.
